TPC SCOTTSSDALE REVELA NUEVO MONUMENTO PARA LOS ACES (HOYO EN UNO) EN EL 16

February 11, 2019 by WM Phoenix Open Leave a Comment

Su Kang wins Ford Edge at Drive for Your Ride Event

February 11, 2019 by WM Phoenix Open Leave a Comment

As the Official Vehicle of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Ford helps our event give back to the local community in a variety of ways. From Ford Free Days – presented by your Arizona Ford Dealers – which makes Monday and Tuesday at the WM Phoenix Open free for all attendees, to providing courtesy vehicles to PGA TOUR stars so they can enjoy all the Valley has to offer. And in 2019, for the second-straight year, Ford held the “FORD Drive for your Ride” closest-to-the-pin contest which gave players a chance to win two, brand-new Ford Edge STs – one for the player, and one to give to a local non-profit organization. The winner was chosen based on the aggregate proximity to the hole on the famed par-3 16thduring their first two rounds of competition at the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

This year, Su Kang took top honors at the “FORD Drive for Your Ride” contest, winning a brand-new Ford Edge ST for himself, and one for, as his chosen charity, Special Olympics Arizona.

Fowler Goes Low, Fans Go Green at Saturday’s Third Round

February 3, 2019 by WM Phoenix Open Leave a Comment

The dust has settled after Saturday’s third round at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which despite rain forecasts, featured warm weather and sunshine for fans to watch the PGA TOUR’s best tee it up at TPC Scottsdale. Rickie Fowler extended his second-round lead to four shots after matching his first-round score of 64 thanks to eight birdies and only one bogey. Fowler will have to stay sharp in the final round as Matt Kuchar and Justin Thomas are well within reach at 16-under and 15-under respectfully.

Players, caddies, volunteers and thousands of fans blanketed TPC Scottsdale in green for Waste Management’s ninth-annual GREEN OUT day to show support for Waste Management’s commitment to environmental sustainability. In total, The Thunderbirds raised $38,750 each for four environmentally focused charities: Waste Not, Bonneville Environmental Foundation (Change the Course), Arizona Recycling Coalition and AZ Chapter of Solid Waste Association of North America (AZ SWANA). Over nine years, GREEN OUT efforts at the Waste Management Phoenix Open have now raised $750,000 for local environmental organizations.

Saturday’s third round also marked the end of an era, as long-time PGA TOUR stand-out, World Golf Hall of Fame inductee, honorary Thunderbird and NBC analyst Johnny Miller called his final 18 holes. Miller has been a golf icon for the better part of six decades, accumulating 35 professional wins including two Major Championships before moving to the broadcast booth in 1997.

To our 16th hole Breakfast Club members – some of which lined up at 3:30 a.m. – we can’t thank you enough for your support of the tournament and your commitment to being the best fans in golf. Thank you, and RESPECT!

Final-round action begins Sunday at 8:45 a.m. with the leaders – Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar and Justin Thomas – teeing off at 10:45 a.m. Click below to see complete final-round pairings and tee times.

Fowler Takes Sole Lead Going into the Weekend

February 2, 2019 by WM Phoenix Open Leave a Comment

Friday’s second round at the Waste Management Phoenix Open is in the books. Warm winter sunshine brought fans out in droves for the first Friday of February to watch PGA TOUR superstars compete for a chance at the $1.27 million winner’s check.

Perennial WM Phoenix Open contender Rickie Fowler sits alone atop the leaderboard after the second round. The two-time runner up at TPC Scottsdale turned up the heat on the stadium stretch, birdieing his final four holes for a 6-under 65. Justin Thomas is hot on Fowler’s heels, only one shot back at 12-under par. Thanks to an ace on the par-3 seventh, Branden Grace finds himself just two shots off the lead after firing a 7-under 64. And Matt Kuchar, Cameron Smith and Trey Mullinax are tied for fourth at 10-under par.

The lone amateur in the field and Oklahoma State University All-American, Matthew Wolff, made his first career PGA TOUR cut – in his first start no less – sitting 5-under par after his first two rounds.

PGA TOUR players will regroup for Saturday’s third round. You can check out the pairings here:
