For 14 consecutive years, the WM Phoenix Open has been recognized as the largest zero waste sporting event in the world! In partnership with The Thunderbirds, tournament vendors and the PGA TOUR, WM leads operational efforts to divert 98% of waste from the landfill through recycling, composting, donation and energy generation.

The use of energy, materials and water can affect the environment, so the WMPO commits to measuring, reporting, and mitigating our environmental impact across tournament operations. In 2025, the WM Phoenix Open achieved third-party limited assurance on our greenhouse gas emissions inventory, highlighting our commitment to transparent reporting.
