CONSTRUCTION BEGINS, WM PHOENIX OPEN’S 16TH HOLE GETS TRANSFORMATIVE NEW LOOK

September 30, 2025 by WM Phoenix Open

WM PHOENIX OPEN
NEWS
INFO

Construction is currently underway on a significant redesign of one of the most unique venues in golf. When fans return to TPC Scottsdale for the 2026 WM Phoenix Open, one of the world’s largest certified zero-waste sporting events, they will be welcomed by a newly reimagined hospitality experience at the 16th hole — a state-of-the-art, 100% reusable modular structure designed to advance sustainability and deliver modern comfort, premium interior finishes, better views and an elevated culinary program unlike anything previously seen at “The People’s Open.”

While the overall footprint of the venue will be similar, the new structure features wider interior bays and higher ceilings – creating spacious suites with improved sightlines and flexibility. Frameless glass railings on every level replace traditional scrim and barriers, offering fans unobstructed views of all the action inside the Coliseum. Because the structure is reusable, it is also expected to reduce the need for on-site construction and the amount of materials that are either donated or recycled after the tournament each year.

Adding to the excitement, a brand-new hospitality venue – the Pin Hi Club – will debut on golfer’s left of the green at the ground level, with daily individual tickets available for the first time at the 16th hole. New LED video boards and a refreshed, modern interior design will add to the experience, reinforcing the tournament’s reputation as one of the most innovative and fan-forward events in golf.

“For years, the 16th hole has set the standard for excitement in the golf world, now with this new structure, the 16th hole will also set the standard for what a premium fan experience is, not just in golf, but in sports,” said 2026 Tournament Chairman Jason Eisenberg. “We’ve opened up the sightlines, raised the ceilings, modernized the interior and added the brand-new Pin Hi Club to take the 16th hole hospitality experience to another level.”

The redesign is more than cosmetic. Wider column spacing creates suites that feel more open and flexible, while new stair systems improve access from all sides. The result is a polished, more permanent look that elevates the overall feel of the structure. Additionally, the new, reusable structure reflects the tournament’s long-standing leadership in driving sustainability by ensuring tournament materials are diverted away from landfills through recycling, composting, donation, reuse and using materials to recover energy and create fuel. Materials used to build the former 16th hole structure are expected to be reused by InProduction, a leading provider of temporary seating, staging and structures, at other events and tournaments.

“We are excited that the new 16th hole structure will advance sustainability and elevate the fan experience,” said David Brannon, WM Four Corners Area Vice President. “We expect the new reusable, modular design to significantly reduce construction materials needed. As a result, we’ll see less metal, wood and scrim needing to be recycled or reused through the tournament’s zero-waste process.”

Construction for the 2026 WM Phoenix Open started on Monday, Sept. 15, beginning at the 16th hole and the Cove venue on the 17th hole.

The 2026 WM Phoenix Open returns to TPC Scottsdale February 2–8, bringing back “The People’s Open” for its 91st edition. Recognized five times as the PGA TOUR’s Tournament of the Year, the WM Phoenix Open is celebrated as one of golf’s most iconic and fan-friendly events. In 2025, Thomas Detry made history in the desert, capturing his first career PGA TOUR win and becoming the first Belgian champion on the PGA TOUR.

The 2026 tournament marks the 17th year with WM – North America’s leading provider of comprehensive environmental solutions – as proud title sponsor. During WM’s time as title sponsor, the tournament has contributed to setting a new standard for charitable giving and sustainability in sports, earning recognition as one of the largest certified zero-waste sporting events in the world for 13 consecutive years and raising millions of dollars for the Arizona community each year.

“We couldn’t be more pumped to land such a hot artist in the global dance music scene,” said 2026 WM Phoenix Open Tournament Chairman Jason Eisenberg. “John Summit is one of the hottest names around on the music scene, his show will bring a charismatic, high-octane atmosphere to cap off this year’s music festival.”

Summit is one of the most in-demand names in music today. The Chicago-born, Miami-based DJ, producer, and label owner has amassed nearly one billion global streams, notched two #1 U.S. dance radio hits, and landed multiple tracks in the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Top 10. With his explosive live shows and ever-expanding sound, Summit has become a defining force in modern electronic music. Summer 2025 saw him hold a coveted Ibiza residency — a major milestone for an American DJ — and he is currently headlining London’s O2 Arena (10,000 capacity).

On stage, Summit’s momentum is unmatched. He sold out New York City’s Madison Square Garden in under two hours (17,000 tickets), packed three nights at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum (45,000+ tickets), and headlined BMO Stadium (22,000). In 2025, he launched his own flagship event — Experts Only Festival NYC — a two-day takeover of Randall’s Island produced in partnership with Medium Rare, Relentless Beats, and EMW. From the Sahara Stage at Coachella to global hotspots across Europe, Asia, and South America, Summit brings his signature high-octane energy everywhere he plays.

Summit’s catalog includes global hits like “Where You Are” (feat. HAYLA), “Human” (feat. Echoes), and “Go Back” with Sub Focus (feat. Julia Church), each showcasing his ability to fuse club-ready energy with emotional resonance. His debut album, Comfort in Chaos (released July 12, 2024), explores themes of vice and virtue, highs and lows, and the duality of human experience, pairing his festival-tested sound with raw personal storytelling. The record earned him nominations at the Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards, further positioning himself among the genre’s most influential artists.

BUNT. is a German DJ and producer who has carved out a distinctive space in electronic music with his brand of “electronic folk”; a vibrant fusion of house and folk music. Emerging from Stuttgart as a duo before going solo in 2021, BUNT. quickly landed with Arista Records and scored a breakthrough with the hit single “Clouds” in 2023.

Blending melodic songwriting with pulsing beats, BUNT. draws inspiration from legends like Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, and Justice. His sound—rich in banjo-like textures and organic instrumentation—adds a refreshing layer of color to modern dance floors.

General admission tickets for the finale show will start at $125. VIP tickets and elevated experiences are available starting at $350 each and provide exclusive access to an enhanced VIP area where guests are treated to complimentary food and drinks and access to a premium viewing area for the shows.  Organizers encourage fans to buy their tickets early as ticket prices will increase as the event draws closer.

The Coors Light Birds Nest doors will open at 3 p.m. each day with its expanded outdoor patio area which will feature more live music, outdoor games, entertainment, and various food and beverage offerings.  The special guest opening act will take the main stage inside the 48,000 square foot tent at approximately 6:30 p.m. each night, with the headliners going on stage at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The Coors Light Birds Nest is located directly across from the main WM Phoenix Open tournament entrance at 82nd Street and Bell Road.  The entertainment venue opens at 3 p.m. and the headline act will wrap up at approximately 10:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Headline acts will take the main stage each evening at approximately 8:30 p.m. The Coors Light Birds Nest is a 21-and-over event. “We are excited to lock in Zach Top for Thursday night for this year’s Coors Light Birds Nest,” said 2026 WM Phoenix Open Tournament Chairman Jason Eisenberg. “Zach is one of the most exciting young voices in country music right now, and his sound mixed with modern energy will set the perfect tone for what’s shaping up to be another electric week of live music during WM Phoenix Open week.”

General admission tickets for the Thursday show will start at $125.

Recently crowned one of Rolling Stone’s “Hottest Acts Right Now,” Zach Top is gearing up to release his highly anticipated new album, Ain’t In It For My Health, out August 29 via Leo33, led by the hit worthy single “Good Times & Tan Lines.” Hailed by Billboard as “one of this summer’s top country anthems” and praised by Country Central for his unmatched swagger, the track sets the tone for what promises to be a defining moment in Top’s breakout year.

The upcoming project follows the success of his 2023 debut album, Cold Beer & Country Music, which earned him an ACM Album of the Year nomination.

In 2024, Top achieved his first No. 1 at country radio with “I Never Lie” and was named ACM New Male Artist of the Year. His recent accolades include a moving live performance of “Use Me” at the ACM Awards, a national TV debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, a nomination for CMA New Artist of the Year, and the Discovery Artist of the Year honor at the 2024 MusicRow Awards.

Currently on the road with his Cold Beer & Country Music headline tour, Top is bringing his timeless style to some of the country’s most iconic venues, including two nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, as well as major arena stops in Louisville, Oklahoma City, Charleston, Vancouver, and beyond.

ERNEST, Nashville’s genre-blurring hitmaker and self-proclaimed “Nashville hippie”, continues his explosive growth as one of country music’s most influential voices and versatile triple threats. A former Concert in the Coliseum performer (2024), he’s a 12-time No. 1 hitmaker, 4-time ACM Award nominee, 3-time CMA Triple Play Award winner, and 2-time Variety Hitmaker honoree.

A rare force whose pen, voice, and presence are equally potent, ERNEST has crafted chart-toppers for the likes of Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll, and Chris Lane. His genre-spanning songwriting has already notched 12 No. 1 hits and counting.

Blending George Jones twang with Eminem edge, his twist-heavy verses and vivid storytelling have cemented him as one of Music City’s defining artist/writers. His fingerprints are everywhere — most recently on the record-breaking Hot 100 smash “I Had Some Help” by Post Malone featuring Morgan Wallen, which earned him a 2025 GRAMMY nomination.

THE THUNDERBIRDS RAISE A RECORD $18 MILLION FOR CHARITY FROM 2025 WM PHOENIX OPEN

May 21, 2025 by WM Phoenix Open Leave a Comment

The Thunderbirds – hosts of the WM Phoenix Open – announced today the 2025 edition of “The People’s Open” raised a record-breaking $18.1 million for local charities — marking the highest single-year total in tournament history. This is the eighth time the tournament has surpassed the $10 million mark in charitable giving. The previous charity record was $17.5 million, set in 2024.

“Each year the WM Phoenix Open sets a new standard, but surpassing yet another record and raising $18 million is truly extraordinary,” said Matt Mooney, Tournament Chairman for the 2025 WM Phoenix Open. “This record-breaking milestone is a testament to the unwavering generosity of our community, the dedication of countless volunteers, and the incredible support from our sponsors and fans. The impact of these contributions reaches deep into our neighborhoods, supporting vital charities and changing lives across Arizona. We’re proud not just of the dollars raised, but of the collective spirit that drives this event forward year after year.”

Since WM was named title sponsor in 2010, The Thunderbirds and the WM Phoenix Open have now raised more than $160 million (160,212,248) for local charities. In its 90-year history, the tournament has contributed more than $226 million ($226,258,814) to benefit nonprofits across Arizona — including more than $120 million in the past 10 years alone.

“Congratulations to The Thunderbirds on a raising a record-breaking amount for charities in 2025,” said David Brannon, WM Four Corners Area Vice President. “The WM Phoenix Open has an incredible impact on the community through its charitable and zero-waste efforts, and WM is proud to be a part of it.”

This year’s announcement was made at Child Crisis Arizona’s Center for Child & Family Wellness in Mesa — a long-time Thunderbirds Charities partner that’s been supporting at-risk children and families for nearly five decades. The organization offers prevention, intervention, and education programs to ensure every child has a safe and nurturing environment.

To date, Thunderbirds Charities has donated more than $2.1 million to Child Crisis Arizona that included support for new classrooms and playgrounds during the pandemic, as well as a full kitchen renovation now known as the Thunderbird Kitchen, which serves more than 45,000 nutritious meals annually to children from infancy through age 18.

In 2023, Child Crisis Arizona broke ground on a cutting-edge, 38,000-square-foot net-zero campus in Mesa, developed in collaboration with CHASSE Building Team, Architectural Resource Team (ART), and major funders including Thunderbirds Charities. Officially opened on September 25, 2024, the Center for Child & Family Wellness is one of Arizona’s first nonprofit facilities to meet Certified Living Petal Project standards—an internationally recognized benchmark in sustainable building.

As the first net-zero nonprofit campus in the state, the Center produces more energy than it consumes, thanks to features like rooftop solar panels, energy-efficient systems, and a zero-carbon industrial kitchen. Additional eco-conscious initiatives include water conservation systems, onsite recycling programs, and landscaped green spaces designed to promote wellness and environmental stewardship.

Thunderbirds Charities contributed $1 million to the project, proudly serving as the Center’s official Sustainability and Solar Partner. The campus is designed with future generations in mind, meeting strict performance benchmarks across energy efficiency, water use, materials, equity, health, and beauty.

“For many years, Thunderbirds Charities has been a steadfast champion of our mission, and we are deeply grateful for their continued generosity,” said Child Crisis Arizona CEO, Torrie Taj.  “Their investment in the solar and sustainability features at the Center for Child & Family Wellness is a powerful reflection of our shared commitment to building a brighter, healthier future for Arizona’s children and families. Thanks to their support, we are creating a space that nurtures well-being while honoring our responsibility to care for the environment. We are so proud to partner with Thunderbirds Charities to bring this vision to life.”

The Thunderbirds remain committed to supporting nonprofits throughout Arizona with a focus on youth, education, and families in need. The record $18.1 million raised from the 2025 WM Phoenix Open is a testament to the tournament’s lasting legacy — and the power of sports and community to drive positive change.
