2018 Blessings in a Backpack

For the past nine years, The Thunderbirds – hosts of the Waste Management Phoenix Open – have partnered with the PGA TOUR Wives Association to support Blessings in a Backpack. The organization aims to mobilize communities, individuals and resources to provide weekend food assistance to elementary school children who might otherwise go hungry.

“The Valley supports the WM Phoenix Open so well, and as a result of that, we get to give back,” said Chance Cozby, Tournament Chairman of the 2019 WM Phoenix Open. “I think we all realize there are kids in need, and we need to make sure kids are going home on the weekends with the nourishment they need. We feel we’re making a difference in these young people’s lives.”

Blessings in a Backpack supports more than 87,000 children in nearly 1,100 schools across 45 different states by providing the nourishment needed to learn and grow.

Durante los últimos nueve años, los Thunderbirds – anfitriones del Abierto Waste Management de Phoenix – se han asociado con PGA TOUR Wives Association para dar apoyo a Blessings in a Backpack. El objetivo de la organización es el de movilizar comunidades, personas y recursos para proporcionar asistencia alimentaria durante los fines de semana para niños de escuela primaria, quienes de otro modo pasarían hambre.

“El Valle da muy buen apoyo al Abierto WM de Phoenix y como resultado de ello, podemos retribuir en algo”, comentó Chance Cozby, Presidente del Torneo del Abierto WM de Phoenix 2019. “Creo que todos nos damos cuenta que existen niños necesitados y necesitamos asegurarnos que los niños se vayan a casa los fines de semana con el alimento que necesitan. Sentimos que estamos haciendo una diferencia en la vida de estos jóvenes.”

Blessings in a Backpack brinda apoyo a más de 87,000 niños en casi 1,100 escuelas a los largo de 45 estados diferentes al proporcionarles la alimentación necesaria para aprender y crecer.
