Tournament Chairman Jason Eisenberg announced today World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has officially committed to play in the 2026 edition of “The People’s Open,” which is set to tee it up Feb. 2–8 at TPC Scottsdale. The two-time champ (2022, 2023) returns to “The People’s Open” as part of the tournament’s 91st edition, where he’ll vie for his third Waterford Crystal Thunderbird Trophy.
“Scottie has been a great champion and long-time supporter of the WM Phoenix Open and the entire community,” Eisenberg said. “He earned his first career PGA TOUR win here, we are excited to welcome him back to Scottsdale. We anticipate having another incredible field of players and can’t wait to watch them tee it up in February.”

Scheffler is coming off a historic 2025 season in which he recorded six victories, including major championships at the PGA Championship and The Open Championship. The Dallas native became just the second player in PGA TOUR history to earn four consecutive Player of the Year honors (joining Tiger Woods), while leading the TOUR in wins for the second straight season.
Scheffler’s six-win campaign in 2025 also included 12 Top-5’s and 17 Top-10 finishes without missing a cut in 20 total starts. He led the PGA TOUR in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, Approach and Total while earning the Byron Nelson Award for lowest scoring average. He will make his seventh career appearance at TPC Scottsdale, where along with his two wins has four Top-10’s and only one missed cut (his first appearance in 2019).
