CHANCE COZBY
BIG CHIEF
Chance Cozby was the Tournament Chairman for the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open, and was recently elected Big Chief of The Thunderbirds and President of Thunderbirds Charities.
Cozby has been on the staff at PING since 1999, and is currently the Vice President of Sports Development, where he is responsible for player development, contract negotiations and management of the PING Worldwide Tour team. He also is heavily involved in other aspects of the PING business as a member of the leadership team. Locally owned and operated, PING has been a longtime partner as the exclusive golf brand of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, dating back to 1969.
Cozby received a B.B.A. degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1999, where he earned all-conference honors for three years as a member of the Sooners golf team. His family has a deep background in golf – his brothers Cary and Craig also played golf at Oklahoma, and his dad Jerry is a member of the PGA Hall of Fame and was the 1985 PGA Professional of the Year. A Thunderbird since 2010, Cozby lives in Phoenix with his wife Erica and their two sons, Campbell and Catcher.
TIM WOODS
TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN
Tim Woods is the Tournament Chairman for the 2020 Waste Management Phoenix Open and will lead The Thunderbirds in the planning and execution of every facet of the 2020 event, including meeting with current and potential sponsors, recruiting PGA TOUR players to the event, community and sponsor relations, and developing new on-course venues.
An Arizona native, Woods is a graduate of Brophy College Preparatory and The University of Arizona. He is Co-Owner of Farmer Woods Group, a full-service insurance brokerage firm providing risk management resources for a wide variety of businesses and personal asset protection for individuals.
In addition to his full-time career as an insurance professional, newly promoted Lieutenant Colonel Woods is a Commissioned Officer and Black Hawk Helicopter Pilot in Command in the Arizona Army National Guard. Woods entered military service in 1998 and, along with his various peacetime assignments, completed two combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom between 2005 and 2010. Woods is currently assigned as the Brigade Operations Officer for the 98th Aviation Troop Command headquartered at Phoenix Papago Military Reservation and maintains aircraft proficiency flying multiple training missions monthly. An active Thunderbird since 2011, Woods lives in Phoenix with his wife Bianca of 11 years and two sons, Henry (age 9) and Peter (age 7).
SCOTT JENKINS
ASSISTANT TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN
Scott Jenkins is the Assistant Tournament Chairman for the 2020 Waste Management Phoenix Open and will assist Tournament Chairman Tim Woods with all tournament-related operations while preparing to be Tournament Chairman in 2021.
Jenkins is a Partner with the national law firm of Quarles & Brady and his practice focuses on commercial bankruptcy and litigation. Additionally, he is Chair of the Arizona Bankruptcy Group and the firm’s Recruiting Committee.
Jenkins graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona; he also earned his law degree from the Gonzaga University School of Law. An active Thunderbird since 2015, Jenkins lives in Phoenix with his wife Brandi, and two sons, Will (age 13) and Sam (age 10).
