WM PHOENIX OPEN SUSTAINABILITY

ZERO WASTE

For 14 consecutive years, the WM Phoenix Open has been recognized as the largest zero waste sporting event in the world! In partnership with the Thunderbirds, tournament vendors and the PGA TOUR, WM leads operational efforts to divert 100% of waste from the landfill through recycling, composting, donation and energy conversion.

The cornerstone of WM’s operational achievements begins and ends with Recycling Right, WM’s very own Recycling Education platform. To learn more about Recycling Right and how WM operates the largest zero waste event in the world, please visit:  https://www.wm.com/us/en/inside-wm/phoenix-open

COMMUNITY

Inclusive & Engaging

As one of the longest-running and most-popular events on the PGA Tour, the WM Phoenix Open welcomes hundreds of thousands of spectators and creates a positive economic impact of over $400 million, one of the largest for any golf event in North America.

The WM Phoenix Open is a carbon neutral, zero waste tournament with a balanced water footprint. The use of energy, materials and water can contribute to the greenhouse gas emissions that are harming our planet so the WMPO commits to balancing all environmental impacts from tournament activities.

We’re dedicated to making the WM Phoenix Open as inclusive and beneficial as possible. From offering free access to emergency workers and veterans to promoting youth involvement and engaging with the community, we’re working to make the People’s Open available for all who wish to attend.
