Michael Phelps, Dude Perfect’s Tyler Toney Join Star-Studded Field for Annexus Pro-Am at Waste Management Phoenix Open

Tournament Chairman Tim Woods announced today the most decorated Olympian of all time Michael Phelps has been added to the list of star-studded celebrities from the sports and entertainment world who will play in the Annexus Pro-Am at the Waste Management Phoenix Open on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course. Additionally, YouTube sensation Tyler Toney from Dude Perfect – known for the group’s viral trick-shot and stunt videos – also will tee it up at the celebrity Pro-Am.

Both Phelps and Toney will also participate in the Phoenix Suns Charities Shot at Glory, a unique closest-to-the-pin contest with a $1 million prize for an ace at the PGA TOUR’s most iconic hole.

Phelps is considered the greatest Olympic athlete of all-time thanks to his record 28 overall medals, including a record 23 gold medals. His most recent competitive appearance was at the Rio Summer Games in 2016 where he added six more medals, including five gold medals, to his record medal count. The Scottsdale resident will be making his fifth appearance in the Annexus Pro-Am (2013, 2017, 2018, 2019).

Toney and Dude Perfect are an American sports entertainment group known for their sports-themed YouTube videos which routinely garner view counts in the hundreds of millions. The group of five from Texas has generated more than nine billion total views and 48 million subscribers on their flagship YouTube channel, making them the 9th most-subscribed YouTube channel of all time.

Tee times for the Annexus Pro-Am will range from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Exact tee times for participants will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 29 on www.wmphoenixopen.com, along with a complete list of celebrities and PGA TOUR players in the field. Other stars currently in the field include Larry Fitzgerald, Archie Bradley, Shane Doan, Torey Lovullo, Emmitt Smith, Dierks Bentley, Lorena Ochoa, Golden Tate, Reggie Bush, J.R. Smith, Shane Victorino and Josh Allen.

The 2020 Waste Management Phoenix Open will be held at TPC Scottsdale January 27 – February 2, 2020. “The People’s Open” was recently named the Tournament of the Year by the PGA TOUR for 2019, an honor that has been awarded four times in the last six years (2014, 2015, 2018, 2019) to help the tournament gain legendary status for being one the most unique events in golf. The 2020 edition will mark the 85th playing of the event (one of the five oldest events on the PGA TOUR) and the 11th as the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
