FRIDAY RECAP AT THE 2023 WM PHOENIX OPEN

Give it up for the Friday fans at the 2023 WM Phoenix Open! Yesterday’s winds that gave players fits during Thursday’s first round receded today – for the most part – giving way to traditional Scottsdale sunshine. The early weekend crowd on hand to watch the PGA TOUR’s best were treated to a spectacular leaderboard with nine players within four shots of the leader. Going into play on Saturday, “The People’s Open” is WIDE open.

For the second straight day, play at the 2023 WM Phoenix Open was suspended due to darkness, but the current leader in the clubhouse is defending champion Scottie Scheffler who followed his first round 68 with an easy-breezy-beautiful, bogey-free 64 (the low round of the day so far). Perennial contender Jon Rahm and Adam Hadwin are two strokes back at 8-under par, although Hadwin still has eight holes left to play in his second round. World No. 6 Xander Schauffele, WMPO hole-in-one artist Sam Ryder and Major champion Jason Day are four back at 6-under.

Second-round play will resume Saturday morning at 7:45 a.m. followed by moving-day action after players finish their previous rounds.

Saturday is a special day here at TPC Scottsdale – #GreenOut Day. Don’t forget to wear green for the annual day, supporting  title sponsor WM’s efforts to Recycle Right and make the WM Phoenix Open the largest Zero Waste event in the world!

Oh! By the way in case you forgot or you have been living under a rock the past few years, Saturday at the WM Phoenix Open also plays host to the 16th Hole Breakfast Club. Want to join? Get here early an don’t forget to RESPECT the players, RESPECT the game and RESPECT each other.
