WORLD TOP-10’S VIKTOR HOVLAND AND MAX HOMA LATEST COMMITS TO 2024 WM PHOENIX OPEN PRESENTED BY TAYLOR MORRISON

Tournament Chairman George Thimsen announced today 2023 FedExCup champion Viktor Hovland and World No. 7 Max Homa have committed to play in the 2024 WM Phoenix Open presented by Taylor Morrison, which is scheduled to tee it up February 5-11 at TPC Scottsdale. The 2024 field now includes five of the Top-10-ranked players in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).

“The WM Phoenix Open has always been a huge draw for some of the biggest names in golf and adding Max and Viktor continues that tradition into 2024,” Thimsen said. “Both of these guys are incredible players coming off extraordinary seasons and we are looking forward to seeing them battle it out in February at ‘The People’s Open.’”

Hovland is coming off his most successful year since he joined the PGA TOUR in 2020 in which he racked up his first three-win season with victories at The Memorial Presented by Workday, the BMW Championship, and the TOUR Championship at Eastlake Golf Club. Hovland caught fire in last year’s FedEx Cup playoffs, winning two of the three events on his way to his first FedEx Cup title and an $18 million bonus check. Hovland currently ranks No. 4 in the Official World Golf Ranking and was a member of the successful Team Europe at the 2023 Ryder Cup. He will make his fourth appearance at “The People’s Open” in 2024.

Homa made his PGA TOUR debut in 2013 and has since carded six career PGA TOUR victories.  Homa has really come into his own in the past two years, winning four times including a title defense at last year’s Fortinet Championship.  He has had at least one PGA TOUR victory in each of his last three seasons with multiple wins coming in 2022 and 2023.  Homa’s 2023 campaign was good enough for a 9th-place finish in the FedExCup Standings and a 2023 U.S. Ryder Cup appearance. Homa will make his sixth start at the WM Phoenix Open in 2024, with his best finish a solo sixth in 2020.

The 2024 WM Phoenix Open field now includes five of the Top-10-ranked players in the world. No. 1-ranked Scottie Scheffler leads the pack followed closely by Hovland (No. 4), Xander Schauffele (No.6), Homa (No. 7) and Wyndham Clark (No. 10).
