66th Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Keynote Speaker at Waste Management Phoenix Open Tee-Off Luncheon

The Waste Management Phoenix Open Tee-Off Luncheon was held at Chase Field under an open roof and extraordinary weather this afternoon, officially starting the countdown to the 2020 event. More than 1,500 people were on hand to see keynote speaker, 66th United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Arizona Diamondbacks President and CEO (and proud Thunderbird) Derrick Hall who emceed the event, spoke to Secretary Rice about her incredible life and journey through politics and some of the challenges that come with it. 2020 Tournament Chairman Tim Woods delivered a heartfelt speech about what the WM Phoenix Open means to him and his fellow Thunderbirds and what to expect for the 85th playing of “The People’s” Open, and Jim Fish, CEO of Waste Management, provided some insight in what it takes to be the largest Zero Waste event in the world.
