Welcome to the Waste Management Phoenix Open Blog on the new WMPhoenixOpen.com.
We’re excited to have Waste Management on board as the new title sponsor for the golf tournament. Waste Management’s involvement with the tournament will not only allow the tournament host Thunderbirds to continue to raise millions of dollars for charity each year, but will also make the event the “greenest” on the PGA TOUR. The Waste Management Phoenix Open will be a major platform for showcasing Waste Management’s Think Green® solutions. Waste Management, known for its leadership in collection, transportation, disposal and recycling, also provides waste solutions like practical and sustainable renewable energy alternatives, comprehensive sustainability evaluations and new technologies to recover the resource in waste. The tournament is a way to showcase these solutions, which help customers and communities reduce waste while reducing cost and creating positive change for the environment.
And while “the Greatest Show on Grass” is now “the Greenest Show on Grass,” fans can still expect the same exciting atmosphere for which the tournament has become legendary. Once again in 2010, the world famous 16th hole will be a fully enclosed stadium with general admission and skybox seating for up to 15,000 enthusiastic fans. After a successful debut at the 2009 FBR Open, The Tilted Kilt Beer Garden returns along the 18th hole and will provide tournament goers a great place to catch some golf action while enjoying a refreshing beverage.
New to the 2010 Waste Management Phoenix Open, the Michelob Ultra Champions Pavilion will be open to all fans and will not require a separate ticket for entry. Located between the 2nd and 9th greens, The Champions Pavilion has a sports lounge feel complete with plasma televisions, live scoring monitors, bar service and plenty of comfortable seating. The Champions Pavilion features a fantastic menu of food entrees, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks all available for purchase.
That’s all for now. Check back in the coming days and weeks for more WM Phoenix Open blog posts.

I have two ground passes for Sunday. Can I sit at the 16th hole with these passes, or do you need a special ticket for that hole. And if allowed, do I need to get there when gates open and run to get a seat (like the Masters) and sit boringly until players make their way to the 16th?

Anyone under 17 years of age will be admitted free with accompanying General Admissions ticket holder.

Derek…each of these venues requires special access tickets/passes to take advantage of the amenities (food, beverage, etc.). If you go to the main web site for the tournament (clic2pgagolf.com), you can click on the two menu items in the “green” navigation bar: “Tickets” and “Corporate Opportunities.” Each of these drop-down menus present the information about what is included with each venue at the tournament. Hope this helps.

Brian…your General Admission passes for Sunday will enable you to sit anywhere in the bleacher sections of the 16th hole. There is always a lot of coming and going throughout the day, but the seats are first come-first served, so while you don’t need to be there when the gates open and hang out there all day, it’s possible the seats will fill up as the top pairings come through.

We will make the announcement on Sunday tee times as soon as possible on Saturday. Incoming inclement weather scheduled for late Saturday into Sunday morning may dictate actual tee times. We’ll post on the web site once we have that information from tournament officials.

Yes there is. There is a special seating section on 16th hole, handicap restrooms stationed throughout the course and motorized scooters for rent on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Aaron…there may be a TV or two in village tents, but those are individual choices of the companies occupying the village tent areas. We hope any TVs will be showing the WM Phoenix Open Sunday finale

There are designated areas for handicap parking just opposite the main entrance to the tournament at Bell Road & Hayden. As long as you are displaying the identifying license plate or handicap hanging placard in your car, there will be traffic control officers who will direct you to the appropriate spaces for parking. We hope this will help. Motorized carts are available for rent on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Do you need to purchase a GA pass for each day you would like to attend? Or is one GA ticket good for the week?
WM Phoenix Open Staff
December 20, 2010 at 9:40 am
Brandy…A single General Admission ticket is good for one single day admission to the tournament. Therefore, if you plan on attending the tournament on multiple days, you’ll need to purchase multiple General Admission Tickets. The tournament does offer a “Sponsor Ticket Package” which includes tickets to every day of the tournament.

I am interested in getting some SkyBox tickets for either Wednesday the 2nd or Thursday the 3rd. I realize that all the boxes have been purchased, but was wondering if there were any groups that wanted to sell off a block of 12-17 tickets for either of those days, and if so how I would get in touch with them?

Where can I find the “monday qualifier” scores for today? Who qualified as “monday qualifiers”?
Thanks
WM Phoenix Open Staff
January 31, 2011 at 3:42 pm
John…the Monday qualifier is still underway at McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale. The early leaders are Martin Flores and James Nitties at -5. The qualifier is run for the PGA TOUR by the Southwest Section PGA. You can reach the Qualifier Leaderboard at their website here: http://swpga.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/swpga11/event/swpga1110/contest/1/leaderboard.htm

I understand the golf for today was/has been canceled due to weather. What is happening tomorrow with the scheduled events
WM Phoenix Open Staff
February 2, 2011 at 5:17 pm
Jerry…the decision will be made each day. PGA TOUR staff will arrive pre-dawn to review weather conditions and the effect it may have had on the course overnight. They’ll discuss with the course maintenance team after assessing turf and soil conditions and the estimate of when the course is playable. So, while we can’t predict what the morning will hold for the players and the fans, you can check back in at our website for updates as they are made available to us. The website is http://clic2pgagolf.com

I have tickets for Wed. and of course it was cancelled. What are they going to do about this?
WM Phoenix Open Staff
February 3, 2011 at 2:07 pm
Mr. Walleen,
We’re obviously sorry for having to cancel yesterday’s activities, but the weather was not our friend. The tournament office has given us the following information for the Wednesday ticket situation: Those who have already purchased a Wednesday ticket and want a refund will be given an Any Day ticket in exchange for their Wednesday ticket.
